Whiplash (2014)

Whiplash is a unique film that communicates with its audience through the language of music rather than words and yet (or rather hence) succeeds so brilliantly in conveying emotions like raw passion, drive, angst, frustration and elation such that a lasting impression remains, making you crave for more of the ambitious madness.

This is one heck of an intense ride and the actors coming in with tremendous performances does not hurt the cause.

I was simply baffled by the amount of effort that was put into the camera work and of course the sound design, both, at places, reminding me of Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan.

Exhilarating stuff, this is! So here is the year's first 'must watch' movie recommendation.
